Marquette was built in its current location for a very specific reason. Our school's founders, consistent with the Jesuit mission of service, strategically placed Marquette in the midst of one of Milwaukee's most underserved communities so that we, as students, might use the skills and knowledge we gain here to reach out to our neighbors and help make a difference in the surrounding commnunity.

Marquette Habitat for Humanity provides a way for students to fulfill this mission.

We work with Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity, UW-Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity, and the greater international Habitat for Humanity organization to give homeless families and individuals in the Milwaukee area the gift of not only a new home, but the start of a better life.

We do this through:

  • Build Days (working with Milwaukee Habitat to help build homes for the homeless)

  • ReStore Days (volunteering at Milwaukee Habitat's ReStore thrift shop, a secondhand furniture and home supply store)

  • Supporting Milwaukee Habitat's initiatives of providing job training, access to fresh food, and other services to its homeowners.

  • Collegiate Challenge trips (traveling to a different part of the country to build homes over school breaks)

We also like to work with other service organizations on campus to host fundraisers, events, and socials throughout the semester.

ABOUT US

As an affiliate of the greater Habitat for Humanity program, our mission is to provide decent, affordable, and sustainable housing for those in need.

We achieve this by:
  1. Working with Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity to help build homes in the Milwaukee community.
  2. Volunteering at the Milwaukee ReStore thrift shop.

  3. Participating in Collegiate Challenge trips, which allow us to take our service beyond the local Milwaukee community and into other areas of the country (and world).

As a Marquette organization, we strive to be a vibrant group on campus.

We achieve this by:
  1. Hosting a variety of social events and fundraisers on campus.
  2. Supporting other service organizations at Marquette in various activities throughout the year.
